Task 2

True

crime

CONGRATS

xKIMIEx

Welcome to Task 2 of Builders Corp. Series 2. This week we are asking you to create an original build inspired by the aftermath of a  crime scene. No matter how obscure, how tame, how vile. Crime is crime, we urge you to be creative and really tell a story with these builds.

MAX ROOM SIZE LIMIT:

5x5

SUBMISSIONS

Interesting results this week. We were very inspired by a lot of the narratives you each portrayed. Keep up the great work. This is a great start to the competition. We are also introducing the first double-elimination of the season.

Happy Reading!

Not using the overall max space here was a great choice. This island is quite adorable and petite. I can see all the work that went into those trees. I do appreciate the effort but I personally am not that impressed by them. When you’re working with greens and plants it's really important to match the green hues together. The contrast of olive grass and the bright disney neon trees just repulse the eye. I do enjoy the rest of the details in the island and I feel like this room had potential if you had matched the greens better.

I think you did a great job at telling a story this week. I appreciate the smaller intricate details that pull this room together. The stacking itself is on par and flows through the room quite organically. The shape of the room was one of my favourites of the week, the natural, not so boxy look to it was very appealing. Is this build monumental, no. Is it something entirely new, no. Did it get the point across and let you build another week, yes. I think if you strive to push your builds to their fullest potential, you could create some pretty incredible stuff. Thanks.

Hi. This room follows the task requirements. It would feel more complete if you filled in empty space.

A unique idea with appropriate details narrating quite an obvious story once you really look at it . I appreciate all the subtle details and the thought that went into picking the right furni for this particular scene. I’m obsessed with the legs sticking out and the warm light. Great work as usual.

I do believe doing the room with actual habbos in it sorta cheapens the overall effect but you do have some redeeming qualities in terms of creating a narrative with the room. You have have all these clues scattered around the room and the way you used furni to interact with the people is quite fascinating, especially the magnifying glass. I think the room would feel way more organic if it had a better shape, not a flatout square.

I love the decision to use bots in this build to fully see its potential. A robbery gone wrong! I love the shape of the room and the corner wall with the 'gold' peeking through was clever. I think the outer wall could have been structured differently to accommodate for it being a jewellery shop. Without the few obvious signs of jewels, it doesn't push the narrative I'm thinking you meant to include. Overall, the construction was interesting, you told a story and created the perfect crime. Well done

I wish you didn’t depend on bots. I like the effort put into stacking the walls! Unfortunately you used three different types of wood that do not mesh together. And that hurts my heart.

You hands down have the best room of the week. But you ignored a task rule along the way. The task required for you to create the aftermath of a crime scene whereas this captures the crime in action. That being said, I love everything about this room, the idea, the execution, the immaculate details scattered throughout. Keep it up.

This is monumental! Superb. I am blown away literally and figuratively with this construction. You really honed in on the concept and created something that is different from everything else this week. The split second after the explosion was an aspect I would have never thought of. Things floating in the air as they just got blown up. The stacking is quite good. Every furniture placed adds to the narrative you created. Great job this week!

You got robbed by the hosts! I pleaded my case with them. This is the best room of the week in my opinion. You built it with such attention to detail and originality. It’s impressive how you captured a moment in time. I can’t wait to see what you build next!

Interesting use of space with flawless details throughout. You did hear our critiques and gave the room an impressive balance and some breathing room compared to your previous week. You do show improvement and I can’t wait to see what else you prepare for us.

You seemed very unsure of yourself this week, I'm not entirely sure why. The concept was unique, I love that you played with so many different textures and grimy looking furniture to create the illusion that everything is damp and stagnant. The blood dripping off the flooring into the water was a nice touch. I think your attention to detail and creativity this week will set you aside from most of our builders. Awesome!

Is this a Spiderman reference? I like it! It’s a really intriguing room! But at times some of the stacking does not seem precisely thought-out. I would like to see more planning and organization behind it.

You gave us so much to look at this week with this build. The theme was interesting, you're getting really creative in setting the tone of your rooms, this one especially with the use of light in the background. As unorthodox as it was, it really made the room in my opinion. The cave walls would not have been my first choice but the way in which you stacked them to create different heights at the top, it fit the aesthetic exactly. Another great build this week.

This is a nice room! Great colors! I like the idea behind it, but the storyline is blurry.

I don’t see many detailing but the overall feel of the room is pleasant. The structure is nice and the furni choice is fitting with the theme. As I said this room is just nice. I think you’ve played it safe enough. Start doing outrageous ideas, take risks, make something breathtaking. I know you have it in you.

I was hoping someone would do something very urban. I think you've added so many different aspects to this build that I really like, the use of the basketball is clever, the pylons and rope are fitting. The dumpster was a great item to use in a build like this, especially since you are able to only see some things inside of it. The body parts not being prominent in the rest of the room and just the dumpster, tells the story of getting rid of the evidence. I think where this room lacks for me is i'm left wanting more. I want to see more stacking, more creativity, I want you to show me an angle I'm not expecting. You're almost there.

This is uninteresting in comparison to other rooms. The idea is not very creative. It does complete the task requirements. The severed head caught my attention! Please try to add more detail next week.

Fierce.Needles

In a non-task related way this room is really pleasant. The snowy ambiance is pretty and the natural details are fitting. That is also my issue with this room. It is just a scenery with a bit of blood. You took a different direction to what the task required you to do this week. I wish more thought was put into the crime aspect of the task.

cor.png
true.png

You were so focused on setting the scene of this build that I'm actually left wondering what the crime is. Had you effectively told more of the story, this would have landed differently in my opinion. I understand the blood is giving you the idea that a crime occurred, it just isn't enough for a task that involved much more than that. There are some redeeming qualities to this build. The fog floating above the spa was a nice touch and the use of a winter landscape contrast the gore, making it stand out. I just don't see how this build stacks up (literally) to the rest of the competition. Thanks.

Happy birthday Jared! That being said, I really don’t understand this room. Can you count the amount of times you used a stacker on one hand?

tallmolly08.png

At first glance I’m not a fan of the wall choice but analyzing the room further I can see the reason behind them. Most people will overlook this room and not notice all the work that went into it with the subtlest of details scattered at each nook. Once you do read the room you can clearly tell the story behind this. Brilliant work.

Murder and cannibalism, oh my! You went all out this week. I think using so many brown aspects, you're not able to appreciate everything you brought to the table. (ha ha). I see so much that I want to mention, you're very creative and genius in some of the things you did this week. There is no doubt in my mind that you came to play. You told a great story, added some clever details and stacking and the layout of the room is modelled quite well. I can't wait to see what you do in the entirety of your journey. Good job.

Where did you get those photos? But really, this is great! I adore the window. You really planned out a story. Please try working with a limited color palette. I think it would make it more appealing to the hosts.

ice.png

You have one of the most impressive uses of space compared to your peers. The room is organic, simple and clean. You can immediately tell what you’re portraying here. This room is an example of the fact that you don’t really need the fanciest stacking to win a task. You can simply win with a great idea and a clear representation of that idea in a room. Impressive week.

Quite the controversy, this build speaks volumes. I haven't been able to stop talking about this build since you submitted it. This is pure genius. The story is so real and obvious, with so many undertones that enhance it beyond comprehension. I think you layered so many impressive aspects and really refined your talent; it created such a beautifully scary crime scene. This is a win. Very creative, you're a top contender in this competition thus far. Keep up the good work.

This is easily one of the top rooms of the week! I like the use of space. I wish there was more complicated stacking to show a higher level of difficulty. You played it safe and it worked out. In the upcoming weeks, try to push the limits. But the simplicity works well here to tell the story.

ice.png

Mmmm all the stacking and details in this room are delicious. From the gore to the fascinating wall details, you  have an immaculate eye for detailing. What’s lacking here is a good use of space. I do believe this room would be way more impressive if you had shrunk the width of the space and made the whole room more compact and add more vertical details. The top section of the room feels bare.

cor.png
true.png

The stacking is very intricate and detail oriented. I think you created a great narrative this week, you definitely took some of our advise last week. I am actually really impressed by the walls. I think the layering really balanced the mass clutter you incorporated on the floor. Perhaps adding some shelving to the wall in 1 spot would have pulled the focus around the whole room instead of just the bottom. I think this is heaps better than your Week 1. Good stuff.

Well done! I can tell you really thought this out. Thanks for not succumbing to a square room. In the future I would like to see more structure building, rather than excessive details. And please never add BC blocks again.

ice.png
cor.png

On a good note, you do have a really good use of space here. I do like the gore and the trail it represents. What I find lacking here is a good idea. The building is nice but it also lacks ingenuity. In order to do good in this competition you need to start thinking outside of the box. The more unorthodox the idea the better the results will be. I know you got it in you.

true.png

I actually really like the construction of this build. The height of the room is perfect. The crime is fairly obvious and maybe pushing that idea a little more would have been more powerful. I also think being a bit more creative with different furniture lines would be beneficial. When you work with just 1 line, you get the same colour palette and the tone of the room is 1 dimension instead of popping out. Keep stretching our tasks to showcase your potential, I still think you have it in you. Thanks.

Wait, so it was the Furby? It’s an interesting concept. But the massive building structure is irrelevant to the story. You also primarily used one furni line. Please incorporate more creativity!
