Task 5
Statue
of limitations
Welcome to Task 5 of Builders Corp. Series 2. For this weeks task we are doing something very experimental.
Construct an original statue/sculpture; this will be the focal point of your build. Your statue doesn't have to resemble a person, or an inanimate object, it can be anything. Design a room around or to compliment your sculpture. The direction you choose is entirely up to you. We want to see obscurity, creativity and cohesion.
Please note the sculpture can be 1x1, 2x2, 1x2, etc. The entirety of the room will be maximum 3x4. Your sculpture will not take up the entire space.
p.s This week we are introducing a DOUBLE ELIMINATION. The 2 bottom builders that fail to impress us this week will be eliminated from the competition.

Inspiration
We sensed a lot of resilience and insecurity so far this week. We thought we'd extend a helping hand. Below you will see some inspiration from yours truly.
These are conceptual builds, as you can see the sculpture is the main focus. The background details are designed to pronounce the focus, making it stand out.

This sculpture is designed around aesthetics. The core structure was created and the perimeter surrounding it was thought out afterwards. This is a clear representation of the sculpture not being 'anything'.
We are looking for creativity and originality.

I am somewhat disappointed this week. Ignoring the "sculpture" the room around it is amazing. The place is warm, full of details with hints of more space than what the eye can perceive. That's the only thing I like about this room. When It comes to the focal piece that's where I find myself not pleased. A fountain does classify as a structural statue but in the end I expected more of an artificial approach to this. I wish we could see some construction, shapes, materials that aren't just organic decorations put in a symmetric pattern. With such a great complimenting room I expected a better statue to go with it.
Symmetrical builds make me scream. Though there are 'pretty' aspects to the sculptural element you created. I just don't see how it fairs in its surrounding environment. The room is nicely constructed, the use of the fences to create the walls is gorgeous. I feel this is one of your better builds in the sense that it was very thought out in terms of detailing. You just didn't tie the sculpture into the room as much as I wish you would have. I think you have what it takes to step up in this competition. Show us!

A decent if not plagiarized approach on the task. The colour palette is very complimenting and the bright tones work in your favour here. The room around it is done well, I especially enjoy the rain graphics. Overall this is a nice piece of work but we can't help but notice the similarities with the example we provided for you.
I love the icey spin on this build. The idea is very similar to one of the examples but there is no doubt you worked hard at this build. The base is gorgeous, especially with the light shining on it. This whole construction glows; I'm very enamoured. The most fascinating part would be the combination of 'puddled' elements on the floor. I really admire the thought process. You stayed in tune with creating the whole picture for us to see. Good job.

An interesting approach on the task. I could see this being a real installation art piece. it is straightforward and quite appealing to look at. My issue with this is in some details that could have been composed better. The red is not a complimenting contrast to the greens, the green photo would have been fine standing alone without the overwhelming bauble covering it, and I think a concrete patch instead of that marble would have been a better choice for the floor. In the end this is decent work and you get to live and see another day.
This is very confusing for me. When a combination of textures and colours combine to create this twist of foliage; you have to think how is this going to translate. I don't think the blue of the vines and the red from the berries worked in your favour this week. Leaving the palette straight forward would have worked better, in my opinion. That being said; I love the bottom of the construction. The vine and leaf combination with the skin shed. It's nicely done. Overall not the strongest build but the idea was solid and I think you were on the right track.

You did capture the essence of the task in terms of constructive builds but in the end I can't help but not be that impressed with the end result. The statue has an interesting palette but the overall effect is not pleasant. I think it lacks composition and an overall finishing touch. I see potential but we're already way too far into the game for that to matter.
I'm very uninspired by this build. I do see where you were going. I just don't think it's enough to want to see you progress in this competition. Had you fine tuned those engineered constructive aspects; tied them into the rest of the rooms design. This would have faired better. Seeing a simple construction placed in an obsolete surrounding; it's not engaging. That being said. I really enjoyed the palette you worked with. I just wanted to see more of your building style in the rest of the design to make up for the lackluster structure. Thanks.

You hands down win the task in terms of creating the best sculpture. This is quality work that induces envy in other designers. The shape of it is so unique, adding the complimenting palette and overall texture this becomes very appropriate and appealing to the eye. My one concern is the complimenting room around it. It is a weird unappealing choice. I think a constructed solid stand instead of just a floor would have been a better choice to showcase this.
This is the sculpture we were looking for this week. This is so aesthetically pleasing. The proverbial heart remastered. Gorgeous. I wish you were able to show us a little more of the room in this design. You could have done a block floor with something simple entwined through it. Overall this is great craftsmanship. Well done.

I believe you embodied this task better than anyone else this week. You didn't overthink it and just went with your gut, making a visually striking room without any reason/logic/motif behind it. The statue alone isn't that special but that doesn't feel as important when you see the whole composition of the room. Mesmerizing work.
Very refreshing. I love graphic, architectural rooms such as this. The hues and tone of the room are so interesting. I don't necessarily know what I'm looking at but I can't stop thinking about it. You've done a great job contrasting the build of the room into 2 sections that work very well with one another. The structure you created isn't revolutionary but it works well with the rest of the room which is exactly what we wanted this week. This is a great rendition of our task!

This task was more about structural/graphical builds. Not that much about a natural approach. That aside you show a unique creation. The greens are ok, could be executed better (the bonsai looks very awkward in that spot), the bones are interesting and your environment is quite enticing.
This is gorgeous. Your thought process is very creative. I think your sculpture being the skeletal structure of a creature was a great decision. The surrounding environment is very simple to offset the intricacy in the build. The aspect that pushes this over the top for me was the greenery. You've added this concoction of furniture that people normally overlook to create this beautiful island. All of the pieces work well with one another and you were very in tune with your overall theme. I admire that. Good stuff.

A natural organic looking creation is not what we expected nor hoped to see this week. The task required that artificial handmade aspect of some art pieces, managed by using habbo as your medium, so in the end this room does miss the point a bit. That aside I am intrigued by the story behind this. The rotten parts are graphically appealing in color, tone and texture. It is a great concept on its own just not what was expected this week.
I don't hate this design, I'm actually quite fascinated with the story you were able to tell with all the details. I just dont see how this plays off the task given. I don't see a sculpture. I think you were so focused on your story or let your story overplay what you did in this space. I admire your work; it's just not what I was looking for this week.

CONCLUSION
Good job this week everyone. We know this task was very experimental and confusing. You allowed us into your mind this week with your creativity.
A special congratulations to taromilkshake, a win that you are definitely worthy of. Great attention to detail, construction and craftsmanship. With the double elimination twist we introduced this week; we see 2 talented builders pack their toolboxes and leave the competition. Thank you Faithzina and Pine for all the hard work you put into this competition.
